1. Which is better, dry cleaned or steam cleaned?
Most major carpet manufacturers recommend truck-mounted hot water extraction as the preferred method. Hot-water extraction done properly by a certified trained technician removes more soil and spots than dry cleaning methods.
If you have a situation that requires dry cleaning, Advantage Kwik-Dry is experienced in various dry cleaning applications and can apply that method for you.

7. What are the black lines around the edge?
If you have light colored carpet, you may have experienced dark lines that appear on the carpet. This soiling is called filtration soiling and it comes from air passing through the carpet as it is attempting to get through the crack between the carpet and the baseboard or under a closed door. As air passes through the edge of the carpet pile, this microscopic soiling is deposited there (hence the term filtration soiling). This occurs over a prolonged period of time and is not noticed until a build up has occurred.
This type of soiling is difficult to remove because the soil particles are so fine that they penetrate deep into the carpet pile, and sometimes into the backing of the carpet. It can be removed sometimes, but not always. With special attention, products and effort, acceptable results can be reached. To help prevent filtration soiling, vacuum and wipe the edges of the carpeting on a regular basis.

8. Does your cleaning process saturate the backing of the carpet?
No, although our process rinses the carpet deep down, moisture does not penetrate the backing of the carpet. With our powerful truck-mounted equipment, your carpet is thoroughly rinsed, but left only damp to the touch.

9. Is it possible to get dog and cat odors out of my carpet?
Embarrassing pet odor is more common than you think. At Advantage Kwik-Dry we have the solution to the most stubborn odors.
The problem with pet odor is that it can be much deeper than it first appears. Pet urine can easily soak through the backing of the carpet into the padding underneath. In more severe cases the urine can penetrate into the sub-floor beneath the padding. This creates a problem that is multi-layered.
The urine also provides for the growth of bacteria. This in turn, contributes to a worsening of the odor problem and can contribute to permanent color loss of the carpet fiber.
In the most severe cases a urine neutralizer may be applied to help eliminate the problem. If the contamination is limited to only the face yarn of the carpet then the cleaning itself may effectively remove the odor.
In the case of severe odor problems, replacement of the carpet padding, treatment of the under-side of the carpet and the sub-floor may be required. Even with replacement of the carpet, however, we cannot guarantee complete removal of the odor.
Without treatment over a period of time the odor can be absorbed into draperies, upholstered furniture baseboards, sheet rock and even your houses foundation, just to name a few materials that may absorb odors.
We all love our pets and accidents happen. It's best to treat the accident as soon as it happens. We have several options and products that can help you with that. In the most severe cases when odors cannot be removed with a "one time" cleaning we suggest setting up a maintenance program with us.
